Lush Sweet lips

Ola bloggers,

Apologies for the lack of posts lately, been a lil busy doing a bit of overtime at work (need the cheddar for all that Mac makeup i ordered recently!) and meeting some friends. But good news, i'm back and will hopefully do a couple of posts to make up for not posting in a while :)

I've recently been using a lip scrub from Lush called Sweet lips, they do it in Vanilla, Mint and....and...i actually can't remember the last one. Anyway, i met up with one of my close friends recently and we were talking about skincare. She mentioned the Sweet Lips scrub she had bought a couple of months back but had been using it on her face and she loved the results. We decided to visit Lush that day and she surprised me by buying me Sweet Lips in Vanilla! So i went home and used it on my lips then used a little on my face (just after i took my make up off and washed my face with Freederm sensitive wash) and i loved it! I woke up the next morning with really soft skin...i didn't have to use a moisturiser after i had washed my face as the scrub leaves the skin moisturised (i believe it is the jojoba oil working its magic!).

The scrub contains castor sugar, organic jojoba oil, vanilla extract, cocoa absolute and tagetes oil (not sure what exactly the last two ingredients are but i'm assuming it is something to do with chocolate and an oil i've never heard of?!). It feels, smells and works great. Have you used this before? What do you think?

What scrubs do you guys recommend/ love?

Toodle peep,

Ellister X

  1. hey alye! does the lush lip scrub work for really dry lips? my lips dry up so quickly and nothing works on it. Btw loving your blog I really enjoy reading the random musings you have on everything...especially your MAC lipstick review (I'm a big MAC fan!) PS. You're so pretty mash'Allah! xxx

  2. Shamiya- Hey hun, thank you for your comment. My lips tend to get really dry (especially in winter) and i am very reliant on lip balms (Carmex is magic for my lips!). The scrub gets rid of the dead skin cells and leaves it moisturised...i say give it a go (not advising you to purchase it at first, i'm sure they can give you a sample if you ask), do let me know if it works for you? Oh, and try it as a face scrub. the caster sugar which acts as an exfoliator is not as harsh as most exfoliators with beeds in them (e.g. St Ives) and again, it leaves the skin really supple/ soft.
Ohhh, i'm glad you enjoy reading my blog. I wish i dedicated more time to it though...i certainly will from now on. I can usually talk for Britain (actually the world) but when i switch my laptop on i forget everything and my mind goes totally blank, they call it 'bloggers block' or something? I'm not good with the jargon used nowadays.
Have you tried the Mac lippy? When i first started out using makeup, i used Mac. However, i found it gave me spots and they always advised me the wrong shade so i switched to other brands but now i've rekindled that love for Mac :) Do you use foundation much? Maybe i can do a review on that as i have used quite a few over the years! Hope that helps hun, x

  3. Thanks for the advice hun. I'll totally get a sample before I buy from Lush. And regardless of whether you have 'blogger's block' I still think your writing has a certain appeal to it that's why I found it fun to read...so keep up those posts! (whenever you get the time of course) Yep I use foundation a lot just been checking out various samples but at the moment I'm using MAC studio fix and I've never tried their lipsticks before (to be honest I'm not a lipstick fan) but your review looked so good I'm tempted to try them out. Have you tried the MAC lipgloss? If you could do a review on them that would be brilliant! xx

  4. Shamiya: Thank you sweetheart, you're comment made me feel guilty for not posting often so i just done a follow up to the Mac Rubiwoo lipstick post.
I always use foundation too, i have loadsa scars from spots so use foundation to cover up :( I don't know what i've been doing differently lately but my skin seems much better than before Alhamdulillah. I recommend you try samples of: Mac Studio Sculpt and Mineralize skin finish foundation and Laura Mercier foundation (ask them for some of their primer too, it's fab!). I highly recommend you ask for samples before purchasing new make up. I didn't realise this and was using the wrong colour foundation for years!
I haven't tried their lipgloss yet, my best friend said they are pretty average. However, having put in loadsa hours the past 2 weeks at work, i may just 'invest' in a Mac lipgloss on payday =) x
P.S Do you have a blog?

  5. Hey hun, I don't have a blog, just an avid reader of blogs though lol! My friend Aisha (owner of 'love always aisha') gave a link to your blog and that's how I found you and automatically I enjoyed reading your posts but please don't feel guilty for not posting any it's totally fine. The cool thing about blogs are that you can take them at the pace you want to go at (and personally if I had a blog I dont think I would be updating it that often lol). Btw I never used to use foundation until last year cos of the pigmentation on my nose so I just wear to cover that up. I'll definetely get some samples of what you've recommended, and is it worth investing in primer? I've heard it's not always necessary and sometimes finishing powder/setting spray does a better job.

  6. I just mix sugar into my daily face wash when I need a bit of an exfoliate :)

  7. Shamiya: I appreciate you taking time to read my blog, glad i have a loyal follower in you =) So do you live in Stoke too? I wouldn't recommend a primer if you have normal-oily skin to be honest. I've been using this Boots witch hazel shine control moisturiser lately (was recommended by a friend), its pretty cheap, has medicinal benefits (witch hazel) and it is also a make up base (it really does work), though i use it with a little bit of Simple light moisturiser because the Boots moisturiser dries out my face too much (i have combination skin). Finishing powder could work just as good, it is your preference to which you feel most comfortable with.

Sana: I shall try that from now on =)

  8. Yep hun I live in Stoke (unfortunately lol) and I have combination type skin with a oily T-zone that's why I would prefer finishing powder. But I might try the shine control moisturiser as a base. I just hate when I put make up on and later on in the day my T-zone gets oily urgh...thanks for the recommendation xxx
